Welcome to Scalped

I decided to start a hair journal/blog for a lot of reasons 1, being that I recently finished competing in the Miss Nappturality Competition at Going Natural.com (lol I did not win but it was a good experience) 2, I have been inspired by other blogs and forms on everything from hair to music to fashion ,and I wanted to get in on the game, and 3 people are always asking me questions about my hair/natural hair in general .

Why Scalped ?
I decided on the name scalped ,because I think that there is a perception that natural hair is a trend or that it's widely accepted/ mainstream and it really is not, I think that any natural haired person would agree that they still experience flak for their hair choices. So scalping is the practice of removing someones scalp along with their hair and using it as a trophy or symbol of powers. I think that a lot of times when we discuss hair there is a lot of negativity thrown around on both sides like some "unnatural" haired people like to verbally scalp those with natural hair and vice-versa. By using the word scalp I mean to say that they attack the state of the other persons hair and their reasons for going natural/being permed , and feel superior by doing so.

Example:

natural person scalping unnatural person
You perm you're hair because you don't love yourself, you hate your hair and you wish you were white .

unnatural scalping natural:
You look silly and unkempt with your hair like that , and nobody takes people with nappy hair serious, you need a perm.

These are extreme examples but they are a combination of real comments that I have herd said by people
